Chihuahua breed of dogs are liked by many people and it is their appearance which loves to be grown at home. Their loyalty and bonding towards people add interest of many to buy Chihuahua and breed them to produce offspring. The other fact that has made people to concentrate on breeding Chihuahua is the interest shown on particular breed. It resulted in gradual increasing in breeding of Chihuahua and it moved to 30 percent. Both inbreeding and line breeding can be done on Chihuahua. But care should be taken when doing hybrid reproduction. Major risks are involved in line breeding and choice of breeders should be selected carefully.
Chihuahua whose life span usually around fifteen years can start breeding only after an age of two and strictly it should not be allowed before that. Chihuahua is fragile and delicate and it has small litters. Mostly it gives around one or two puppies and rarely it breeds after that .it is not suggested to breed between elder male Chihuahua to younger female Chihuahua as there are more chances of risk to the life female Chihuahua and puppy to be born. It also requires a standard after which only it can start breeding. Particularly it should have its knees and teeth without any defect and proper care should be taken to the teeth and calf muscle of Chihuahua.
Knees should be strong enough to give birth and healthier teeth are necessary for breeding in Chihuahua. Once it attains the standard both male and female Chihuahua of similar age is allowed to breed. It requires a c section for female Chihuahua to get its offspring. Appropriate training a healthy diet should be given to Chihuahua before it allow for breeding. Chihuahua requires special veterinary care especially during breeding season. It may suffer from genetic disorder due to neurological problems that may occur during its breeding time. It may result in severe pain and malfunction trachea and brain.
It will accumulate water in brain and becomes risk for both female and it’s offspring. Necessary tests should be taken before Chihuahua is allowed for breeding. It is also must to handle the new born puppy with utmost care since it will be very weak. Puppies when it is brought should be checked whether it is produced from healthy Chihuahua. It should also be noticed whether the Chihuahua for breeding are of good temperament as it is very important for breeding
